Hello reader!
Autumn is lurking around the corner. Finally! It’s probably my favorite time of year.
Since I can’t stand heat, summer is usually a tough season for me. So when autumn gets here, with the beautiful colors and cooler temperatures, I can’t help but feel happy about it. Although in Sweden it’s almost illegal to not love the summer, since the dark winters are so long. So I’m usually alone in my joy. 😉
But there is more to be happy about! For example, the Swedish crayfish tradition, which takes place every August and/or September. A great way to say goodbye to the summer, and hello to autumn.

We hosted our very first crayfish party a few days ago, and it was a huge success. We ate plenty of crayfish, shrimp, homemade gluten-free bread that I baked the day before, and then we finished off with some homemade pie. One rhubarb and one bilberry, which were served with homemade vanilla ice cream. Everything was absolutely delicious!
Worth mentioning is that we live on the coast, so seafood is always very fresh and tasty here.

We spent the whole evening outside, adding layers of clothes as the temperature dropped lower. Candles and lanterns were our only source of light when the darkness slowly surrounded us. It was magical.
We’re looking forward to hosting another crayfish party next year. And maybe some other traditional get-togethers as well, who knows? 🙂
Does your country have any annual traditions that you like to celebrate?
Until next time,
